I love me an experience. And if you’re anything like me – at this point in your life, you want to be learning more. I want to visit places that resonate with my soul through visual or culinary arts or nature. So here’s my wish list of destinations for this year:
1. Bob Marley Museum
Located on Old Hope Road, the Bob Marley Museum has been noted as a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Jamaica’s music and culture. A perfect time to visit is during February, which is celebrated as Reggae Month on the island. Learn about the life and legacy of the King of Reggae and explore his former home and recording studio. On Bob’s birthday (February 6th), they tend to hold a mini festival/show on the grounds. It’s a must-attend (or at least that’s what I’ve heard.)
2. Devon House
I scream for ice cream! When it comes to pastries and ice cream, you just can’t get more iconic than Devon House. It’s practically a staple for many Kingstonians on a Sunday evening. But even more than that, the historic mansion offers a glimpse into Jamaica’s colonial past interestingly enough. Take a tour of the beautifully preserved home and enjoy some of the best ice cream on the island at the onsite creamery.
3. National Gallery of Jamaica
The National Gallery of Jamaica showcases the works of Jamaican artists and has an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art. The gallery also hosts exhibitions, workshops, and lectures, making it a must-visit for art lovers. Both destinations offer a unique insight into Jamaican culture and history. Seize the day and explore the extensive collection of Jamaican art and learn about the island’s rich artistic heritage, or take a peek into the future.
4. Kingston City Art Walk Tour
The Kingston Art Walk Tour is a guided walking tour that takes visitors through the vibrant art scene in Jamaica’s capital city. The tour covers the popular art districts of Downtown Kingston and Trench Town and includes visits to local galleries, studios, and street art installations. 5. Blue Mountain Private Coffee Tour
